Module 11 of 12 · 眼科中文 Eye Care
眼科急症 Eye Emergencies and Sudden Vision Loss
Eye emergencies in Mandarin: the phone triage questions, first aid for splashes and injuries, and the warning signs that can’t wait.
By the end of this module you can…
- Ask the key questions on the phone, and say where the caller needs to be: 911 now, the ER now, an eye exam today, or a routine visit.
- Coach a chemical splash aloud: lots of clean water right away, at least 15 minutes, while someone else calls 911.
- Say the first-aid steps for something in the eye and a blow to the eye: no rubbing, no pressing, no pulling.
- Ask about flashes and a curtain, sudden vision loss, the warning signs of giant cell arteritis and a pressure attack, and say what to do now.
- Give calm, clear instructions with no promises, and check them with teach-back.
