By the end of this module you can…

• Introduce a depression questionnaire as routine, with its two-week time frame.
• Read the PHQ-9 questions and the four answers faithfully, or help the patient fill it in.
• Say the score back, and explain it as a guide, not a diagnosis.
• Follow up any answer above zero on question 9 directly, the same day.
• Explain who diagnoses and who prescribes, and what else low mood can be.

2. 问的是过去两个星期的情况。Wèn de shì guò qù liǎng ge xīng qī de qíng kuàng.The questions are about the last two weeks.
3. 您想自己填，还是我念给您听？Nín xiǎng zì jǐ tián, hái shi wǒ niàn gěi nín tīng?Fill it in yourself, or shall I read it to you?
4. 完全不会、好几天、一半以上的天数，还是几乎每天？Wán quán bú huì, hǎo jǐ tiān, yí bàn yǐ shàng de tiān shù, hái shi jī hū měi tiān?Not at all, several days, more than half, or nearly every day?
5. 您的总分是十五分。分数只是参考，不是诊断。Nín de zǒng fēn shì shí wǔ fēn. Fēn shù zhǐ shì cān kǎo, bú shì zhěn duàn.Your total is 15. A guide, not a diagnosis.
6. 第九个问题，我想多问一点。Dì jiǔ ge wèn tí, wǒ xiǎng duō wèn yì diǎn.I’d like to ask more about question nine.
7. 您有没有想过自杀？Nín yǒu méi yǒu xiǎng guo zì shā?Have you had any thoughts of suicide?
8. 有没有过一段时间，特别兴奋，不怎么睡觉也不累？Yǒu méi yǒu guo yí duàn shí jiān, tè bié xīng fèn, bù zěn me shuì jiào yě bú lèi?Ever a time of highs, little sleep, no tiredness?
9. 抑郁症很常见，也是可以治疗的。Yì yù zhèng hěn cháng jiàn, yě shì kě yǐ zhì liáo de.Depression is common, and it can be treated.
10. 治疗一般有两种：心理治疗和药物，也可以两种一起。Zhì liáo yì bān yǒu liǎng zhǒng: xīn lǐ zhì liáo hé yào wù, yě kě yǐ liǎng zhǒng yì qǐ.Treatment: talk therapy, medicine, or both.
