Talk with new parents and grandparents in Mandarin about feeding, safe sleep, jaundice, the cord and how the mother is doing.
By the end of this module you can…
- Ask about feeding, wet diapers and stools, and explain what “enough” looks like.
- Explain formula, pumped milk, water, juice and honey safely.
- Teach safe sleep, kindly, to families who share a bed out of love.
- Explain jaundice and cord care, and when to call right away.
- Ask how the mother is feeling, and tell her where to find help.

- 宝宝一天吃几次奶？每次吃多久？Bǎo bao yì tiān chī jǐ cì nǎi? Měi cì chī duō jiǔ?How many feeds a day, and how long each?
- 一天湿几片尿不湿？Yì tiān shī jǐ piàn niào bu shī?How many wet diapers a day?
- 喂奶的时候疼吗？Wèi nǎi de shí hou téng ma?Does it hurt when you breastfeed?
- 六个月以前，不用喂水。一岁以前，不能吃蜂蜜。Liù ge yuè yǐ qián, bú yòng wèi shuǐ. Yí suì yǐ qián, bù néng chī fēng mì.No water before six months. No honey before one.
- 宝宝睡觉一定要仰着睡，睡自己的小床。Bǎo bao shuì jiào yí dìng yào yǎng zhe shuì, shuì zì jǐ de xiǎo chuáng.Always on the back, in their own crib.
- 床上什么都不放。Chuáng shang shén me dōu bú fàng.Nothing else in the crib.
- 越来越黄、不爱吃奶、特别困，或者大便发白，马上给我们打电话。Yuè lái yuè huáng, bú ài chī nǎi, tè bié kùn, huò zhě dà biàn fā bái, mǎ shàng gěi wǒ men dǎ diàn huà.More yellow, not feeding well, very sleepy, or pale stools: call us right away.
- 三个月以下的宝宝发烧，马上给医生打电话，或者去急诊。Sān ge yuè yǐ xià de bǎo bao fā shāo, mǎ shàng gěi yī shēng dǎ diàn huà, huò zhě qù jí zhěn.Fever under three months: call the doctor now, or the ER.
- 千万不要摇晃宝宝。Qiān wàn bú yào yáo huàng bǎo bao.Never shake the baby.
- 您自己最近心情怎么样？Nín zì jǐ zuì jìn xīn qíng zěn me yàng?How have you yourself been feeling?
